I am Ajna Imogene Souljah.

If you haven't heard of me before, here you can learn a bit more about who I am and what led me to this love of paint and self-expression on canvas.

Starting life in rural New Zealand, a farmer's daughter and an all-round tom boy - the world of art was about as far away as it could be...

Growing up it was all about dirt, dust and horses and apart from my obsession with colouring in books and the play centre finger painting days.

Artistic opportunities were few and far between.

A short dabble in the performing arts at primary school and compulsory art classes in high school were where it started and ended at that time.

Far more interested in the hockey field, rowing races and of course soon to be parties, closely followed by work, work and more work...

A single Mum through my 20's and early 30's there were many careers along the way.

From agricultural work in all areas to retail, admin and sales...

You name it I've done it!!

There was never a hesitation to give something new the good old kiwi go, start a new business or relocate for new and fresh opportunities.

With the family grown up 2012 saw me take flight, leaving behind the New Zealand green for the vast and beautiful red dirt of Australia.

From cattle stations to butcher shops, I eventually found myself turning my hand to woodwork and leather craft, finding my passion in tooling leather.

Traveling half of Australia over the next 10 years, 2021 found me seeking peace in a small coastal town in Queensland.

Where surrounded by hugely talented and supportive artists and musicians, finally I picked up the paint brush!!

With the world open again I returned to New Zealand in late 2022.

Taking a while to reintegrate and coming back in for landing so to speak...

It was 2024 before I really started to take my passion for paint seriously and as a self-taught artist presented my art to the world.

I don't paint for a market; I don't paint to please...

I just paint what is in the moment and I do so with the greatest of joy!!

I hope you will find something amidst my works that evokes emotion within or simply pleases the eye.
